Dec. 3rd Post

Welcome back,

As my final blog post I wanted to talk about Christmas music! Because now it's December and it's acceptable in society to listen to Christmas music. Even though I have occasionally listen to it since November 1st. Anyways, I found an article about the best Christmas music out there! It will help you get into the Christmas mood if you are feeling uninspired. Based on the article the top 12 Christmas albums/songs are as followed..
12. Christmas with the Chipmunks
11. Home for Christmas by Amy Grant
10. A Fresh Air Christmas
9. A Very Special Christmas
8. Christmas with the Beach Boys (love this album by the way!)
7. Christmas Eve and Other Stories
6. Song for Christmas
5. Christmas Portrait
4. Michael Buble Christmas (of course!)
3. Elvis's Christmas Album
2. The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole
1. White Christmas by Bing Crosby

In my opinion, I kinda agree with this list but there are differently some better Christmas songs/albums. I wrote this so people could maybe find enjoyment, because I sure did!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Welcome Back!

This week I'll be discussing the infamous Black Friday. I unfortunately I was unable to be a shopper because I had to work Black Friday, but I was curious to see how much us Americans spend on Black Friday on average. Based on the article I found the 2016 statistics aren't out just yet, but from 2014 the average person spent $308. (PER PERSON!) That is an abundance of money spent on one person alone. Also in 2014 the total amount of money spent was around $50.9 million. In 2015 the average person spent $299, which is better than 2014 but still a lot. The 2015 stats aren't out for the total spent, but nevertheless us Americans love to shop! Anyways I found this article to educate me about sales and to feed my curiosity. It's a quick read but interesting, 10/10 recommend.

Welcome Back!

This week I found a recent article in the spirit of Thanksgiving. It's kind of like last weeks post with a spin. The article is called "Here's What the Average American Spends on Thanksgiving Dinner," which basically talks about we tend to spend more money on food for the holidays then we need. This article further goes into saying to stop overpaying for food then transitions to better ways we could utilize our money, then ended on a note about annual income. It is a fairly short read about a page or so, but it was a good choice to educate me about money we spend on the holidays. I'm also really into the holidays if you can't already tell.

Welcome Back!

This week I'll be discussing something the every one is excited for, which is Thanksgiving! I found an article about the average amount a person consumes on turkey day. In the article "How Many Calories Do We Really Eat at Thanksgiving," Tara Parker-Pope paints a statistically picture of on the average amount people tend to eat on Thanksgiving. Based on information provided by the article, it says that the average American can consume up to 4,500 calories or more! Wow. That is a lot of calories, but if you look at it from the perspective that most people only do this a couple of times in the year then it's alright. This article is fairly small and a quick read, but nevertheless it does provided with the information I was looking for. I was always curious about how much people eat on the holidays, because I know for me I eat a lot too. So I believe this article educated me about the calorie intake of an average American at Thanksgiving. I think I'm just also excited for Thanksgiving!

Welcome Back!

This week I'm going to be festive and discuss an article that I came across a couple weeks ago and thought it fit the theme of Halloween. This article is about a the infamous 'Jeepers Creepers' film, which the movie itself is about a creature that emerges every 23 years for 23 days ans preys on people he takes an interest in. Although this movie is fictional, there is parts of it that are based on real events. Like the opening scene, where Trish and Darry stubble across what looks the be a man dumping a body in an old church shoot, then after spotted the creature follows them down a long country road. Weird enough, this scene is actually a work of non-fiction. That scene is actually based on Dennis DePue. Matt says, "While the factual details almost mirror the details of the film, it actually wasn’t DePue himself that inspired the film so much as it was the testimony of two eyewitnesses who saw him dump the body, a la Darry and Trish and their eyeballing of the Creeper."  The article later adds further insight and evidence about the inspired events. Nevertheless, I thought this article was an interesting read that gave me chills. You should check it out!

Happy Halloween!

Welcome Back!

Even though Christmas is two months away, this week in my blog I'll be discussing an article about how people spend during Christmas (on average). I was really interested in this article because I first started purchasing gifts for my family about two years ago, and the first year I bought gifts was horrible. Being who I am, I spent nearly $800 dollars on the whole family. Which I crazy if you think about it. Being sixteen and not concerned about any sales or deals that could have went on, I blindly spent more money then I needed to. The article "Here's How Much People Actually Spend On Christmas Gifts by Lauren Martin" says, according to a November poll that Gallup conducted the average shopper intends to spend about $800 in general but ends up spending about $1000. To me personally I find it so interesting that people spend so much on gifts. Don't get me wrong though I love to give, especially because Christmas is my favorite holiday. Just from reading this article makes me want to be more aware of what I'm spending this Christmas! Last Christmas I did better only spending around $500, but this year I only plan on around $300. We'll see how that goes...

Welcome Back!

This week I'll be provided insight to an interesting article that I read over the weekend. I read an article about the importance of drinking water. Sometimes as people we don't really see the importance in the little necessities in life. Water may seem just like a drink with zero calories, but aside from that water provides many health benefits. The article suggests that water aids with some functions of organs like, water helps with digestion and blood pressure. Water could also help with weight loss by helping speed up your metabolism and decrease your appetite. The article suggests that we should drink a cup of water before every meal, one cup in the morning, and one cup before bed. Drinking more water can help your health. This article help reveal some of my unhealthy habits and motivate me to drink more water.

Welcome back!

This week I will be discussing the topic of online shopping. For me, I love to shop online. It's probably because I'm lazy, but if you like me too you may think to yourself, 'How do I shop responsibly online?' Well good news for you, I found an article about 10 tips that will help you shop safer online. Upon reading this article, the 10 tips to shop online safely are as follow,
1. Stay away from fishy-looking websites; which could mean any sketchy browsing link or having multiple pop ups.
2. Avoid clicking on hyperlinks embedded in emails; that is very risky because 9 times of out 10 it's either a virus or spam.
3. Shop on secure websites only; if there is a lock at the top of the link that means the website is secure.
4. Never, ever give you SS on a website; that is just asking for trouble because that can lead to identity theft.
5. Take advantage of the automatic identity-theft protection that comes with many credit cards. That's one reason to use your credit card instead of debit cards or cash while shopping. If you see erroneous charges on your statement, you can call your credit card company, which should investigate on your behalf.
6. Change up you passwords; keeping one password for all medias is a bad idea because that means easy access to your information.
7. Review your rights
8. Wield that cell phone carefully
9. Avoid strangers on social media
10. Don't click on fake e-cards
I hope this helped because it help educate me to shop more responsibly. A lot of people get scammed on the internet so that's why it's important to protect yourself.

Welcome back to my blog!
HAPPY OCTOBER

This week I'm going to be observing the career of accounting. Accounting may sound boring and it may be boring, but funny enough that was my other career option. I'm currently am trying to obtain a assiociates in radiology so it's kind of weird that accounting would be my second option, but I love math for some reason. So I decided to blog about accounting and you really do in the field. I found an article on The Wall Street Journal website about a CPA who wrote about her experience in accounting. Come to find out in this article gives insight to what you'll actually being doing as a CPA as well as the salary based on your situation. The writer illustrates that there is many paths you can go down in the field of accounting. Another thing I learned was that accounting doesn't use a lot of the math I enjoy, so I turn I think the right decision going in Radiology. I am glad I was able to come across this article because it gave me a different percepctive on this field. I think this article only had one of the E's though which was educating the reader about accounting.

Welcome back to my blog!

This week I'm going to write (type) about a more serious topic. The topic is about binge eating, which is an eating disorder where the person consumes a substantial amount of food in one sitting. Usually people with disorder use food as an out or way to express their emotions. This article really hit home for me because I still to this day struggle with my weight and eating habits. So this article was a fantastic read. It started with a narration of the person that was struggling with the disorder and the way food made them feel. After deep thought and consideration they realized that their eating habits weren't going to cut it anymore. Then the article went into given sound information about the disorder and how to obtain help. It gave tips such as asking for help, and setting up a plan on how to get back to normalcy. All in all the author makes you feel empowerment after reading, as well as educate about the disorder. This article was a great read, you should give it a glance!

September 17th Post

This week I found an article about the infamous Honey Bunches of Oats. Which is a cereal that mainly consists of grains (unless you get the ones that contain fruit). I was having a little trouble decided on what to write about this week, but I was sitting at the table enjoying a bowl of HBoO like I do everyday. I have ate this cereal every morning for the past year and half. So I asked myself if this cereal was actually healthy. I knew that I was better then eating a whole box of pop-tarts, but was unaware if it would actually benefit me health wise. The article provides what is wrong with the cereal and what benefits it contains. For example, HBoO lacks in fiber and has a slight high in sugars, but the article also says HBoO does have needed vitamins such as iron and vitamin B. This article isn't the longest article but it help educate me. After reading this article, I think I'm going to take a break from HBoO for a while and switch to oatmeal.

This week I read an article about "how to quit" a job that you just started. I chose this article because about a week or two ago I accepted a job that I thought would be a good fit for me... but i was wrong. I dislike this job so much already. It's not so much the people as it is the job. I even took a pay cut from my last job, but enough about me. Back to the article, it's about a woman and man having a conversation about how this guy named Charlie had made a mistake accepting a job he thought he would prefer. But as you continue reading the article you see this conversation progress to where he ends up quitting his job. I mainly read to get an idea if I get another offer that I can "properly" quit my new job.
