Welcome Back!

This week I'm going to be festive and discuss an article that I came across a couple weeks ago and thought it fit the theme of Halloween. This article is about a the infamous 'Jeepers Creepers' film, which the movie itself is about a creature that emerges every 23 years for 23 days ans preys on people he takes an interest in. Although this movie is fictional, there is parts of it that are based on real events. Like the opening scene, where Trish and Darry stubble across what looks the be a man dumping a body in an old church shoot, then after spotted the creature follows them down a long country road. Weird enough, this scene is actually a work of non-fiction. That scene is actually based on Dennis DePue. Matt says, "While the factual details almost mirror the details of the film, it actually wasn’t DePue himself that inspired the film so much as it was the testimony of two eyewitnesses who saw him dump the body, a la Darry and Trish and their eyeballing of the Creeper."  The article later adds further insight and evidence about the inspired events. Nevertheless, I thought this article was an interesting read that gave me chills. You should check it out!

Happy Halloween!

Welcome Back!

Even though Christmas is two months away, this week in my blog I'll be discussing an article about how people spend during Christmas (on average). I was really interested in this article because I first started purchasing gifts for my family about two years ago, and the first year I bought gifts was horrible. Being who I am, I spent nearly $800 dollars on the whole family. Which I crazy if you think about it. Being sixteen and not concerned about any sales or deals that could have went on, I blindly spent more money then I needed to. The article "Here's How Much People Actually Spend On Christmas Gifts by Lauren Martin" says, according to a November poll that Gallup conducted the average shopper intends to spend about $800 in general but ends up spending about $1000. To me personally I find it so interesting that people spend so much on gifts. Don't get me wrong though I love to give, especially because Christmas is my favorite holiday. Just from reading this article makes me want to be more aware of what I'm spending this Christmas! Last Christmas I did better only spending around $500, but this year I only plan on around $300. We'll see how that goes...

Welcome Back!

This week I'll be provided insight to an interesting article that I read over the weekend. I read an article about the importance of drinking water. Sometimes as people we don't really see the importance in the little necessities in life. Water may seem just like a drink with zero calories, but aside from that water provides many health benefits. The article suggests that water aids with some functions of organs like, water helps with digestion and blood pressure. Water could also help with weight loss by helping speed up your metabolism and decrease your appetite. The article suggests that we should drink a cup of water before every meal, one cup in the morning, and one cup before bed. Drinking more water can help your health. This article help reveal some of my unhealthy habits and motivate me to drink more water.

Welcome back!

This week I will be discussing the topic of online shopping. For me, I love to shop online. It's probably because I'm lazy, but if you like me too you may think to yourself, 'How do I shop responsibly online?' Well good news for you, I found an article about 10 tips that will help you shop safer online. Upon reading this article, the 10 tips to shop online safely are as follow,
1. Stay away from fishy-looking websites; which could mean any sketchy browsing link or having multiple pop ups.
2. Avoid clicking on hyperlinks embedded in emails; that is very risky because 9 times of out 10 it's either a virus or spam.
3. Shop on secure websites only; if there is a lock at the top of the link that means the website is secure.
4. Never, ever give you SS on a website; that is just asking for trouble because that can lead to identity theft.
5. Take advantage of the automatic identity-theft protection that comes with many credit cards. That's one reason to use your credit card instead of debit cards or cash while shopping. If you see erroneous charges on your statement, you can call your credit card company, which should investigate on your behalf.
6. Change up you passwords; keeping one password for all medias is a bad idea because that means easy access to your information.
7. Review your rights
8. Wield that cell phone carefully
9. Avoid strangers on social media
10. Don't click on fake e-cards
I hope this helped because it help educate me to shop more responsibly. A lot of people get scammed on the internet so that's why it's important to protect yourself.

Welcome back to my blog!
HAPPY OCTOBER

This week I'm going to be observing the career of accounting. Accounting may sound boring and it may be boring, but funny enough that was my other career option. I'm currently am trying to obtain a assiociates in radiology so it's kind of weird that accounting would be my second option, but I love math for some reason. So I decided to blog about accounting and you really do in the field. I found an article on The Wall Street Journal website about a CPA who wrote about her experience in accounting. Come to find out in this article gives insight to what you'll actually being doing as a CPA as well as the salary based on your situation. The writer illustrates that there is many paths you can go down in the field of accounting. Another thing I learned was that accounting doesn't use a lot of the math I enjoy, so I turn I think the right decision going in Radiology. I am glad I was able to come across this article because it gave me a different percepctive on this field. I think this article only had one of the E's though which was educating the reader about accounting.
